male breast reduction

MALE BREAST REDUCTION:JMale breast reduction is the removal of excess tissue (sometimes referred to as “man boobs”) that has accumulated in the chest area due to genetics, weight gain or the use of certain drugs. The underlying condition, Gynecomastia, is a very common disorder, affecting one in five men at some point during their lives.

The Surgical Procedure

The excess breast tissue and/or fat can most often be removed with ultrasonic-assisted liposuction through a small incision around the periphery of the areola. Occasionally, a broader opening is required to excise the unwanted tissue. In either case, the surgery results in a chest with a more masculine contour.

What to Expect After breast reduction Surgery

Pain is usually relatively light, with most patients encountering only a degree of minor discomfort. Some swelling typically occurs, with it beginning to subside by the third or fourth day after surgery. Resting as much as possible is important for the first week, and patients should avoid raising their arms above their heads for a period of two weeks.
